Elizabeth Green honored for extraordinary Record of Achievement and Service
Elizabeth Green, CEO and Founder of Brief Media, publisher of leading veterinary publication and reference brands Clinician’s Brief and Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, has been named the recipient of the 2019 Gertrude Crain Award.
The award recognizes a professional woman in the B2B media and information industry who has an extraordinary record of excellence, service, and success. The award’s namesake—Gertrude R. Crain—was a notable American publishing executive who, after inheriting Crain Communications, Inc., expanded her company’s portfolio from 7 to 27 titles.
“Gertrude Crain’s legacy as a successful business leader, devoted wife, and matriarch is legendary,” said Green. “While I never had the privilege of meeting her, I enjoy hearing stories of her strong yet graceful leadership, engaging management style, and perpetual kindness. I am honored to receive this year’s award and dedicate it to my own late husband, Eric, without whose inspiration and support I might still be sitting on the sidelines, and to all the young women for whom I hope to pave career paths”
Green has numerous achievements in her tenure as CEO and Founder of Brief Media. In 2001, she created Clinician’s Brief. The award‑winning journal was launched in 2002 and became the leading brand in the veterinary market in just 4 years, a position it maintains today.
In 2015, Green led her teams to create Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, the premier digital resource for up‑to‑date pharmaceutical information and printable client handouts. In late 2018, she acquired all content and assets associated with the Plumb’s and PharmaVet titles and since then has dramatically grown the brand.
Green also pioneered the launch of Brief Media’s Vet Shows—a portfolio of CE conferences in conjunction with CloserStill Media designed specifically for practicing veterinarians, with locations in New York, Chicago, Reno, and Austin.
Green has also established partnerships with the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) and Mission Rabies. With Mission Rabies, she has helped deploy dozens of veterinary professionals to Blantyre, Zomba, and Goa, where teams have vaccinated tens of thousands of dogs against rabies and provided rabies education to thousands of children.
The Gertrude Crain award was delivered to Green at the Connectiv Executive Summit hosted this week in Charleston, South Carolina.
